Garcinia cambogia, known as Malabar tamarind, is a tree that grows in the south west part of India. It belongs to the family, clusiaceae. In India, commonly traded as ‘Kodampuli’ is traditionally used for various culinary and medicinal purposes. The useful part is the dried rind of the fruit.
